Right at the top of the hill, the Castle of Paraliu Astros, according to the Chronicle of Morea, was built in 1256 by the ruler of the Principality of Achaia, Gulielm Villeard. The castle was called Castello della Estella, meaning Castle of the Star, due to the star-shaped shape of the peninsula on which it was built. The town located on the hill near the castle was called Nisi, a name that has remained known to this day. In the area there is an open-air theater called \u201cMelina Mercouri\u201d.
